1. Information We Collect
We collect your full name, COMSATS email address, phone number, department, program, semester, profile picture, listing content, messages sent through the platform, and basic usage data such as pages viewed and listings favorited.
2. Why We Collect It
Information is collected to verify your eligibility as a member of the COMSATS Lahore community, operate the marketplace (listings, chat, reviews), prevent fraud and abuse, and improve the platform.
3. Email Verification
Your @cuilahore.edu.pk email is verified via a confirmation link at registration. We do not accept or store credentials for any other email provider.
4. Chat Data
Messages exchanged between buyers and sellers are stored to support the chat feature, enable dispute investigation, and enforce our conduct policies. Messages are only visible to the two participants and platform administrators when required.
5. Image Storage
Product images and profile pictures are stored securely via our storage provider. Product images are publicly visible as part of listings; profile pictures are visible to other registered users.
6. Cookies
We use essential cookies to keep you signed in and to remember your session. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.
7. How We Store Data
Data is stored in a managed PostgreSQL database with row-level security, access controls, and encryption in transit. Access is limited to what each user role requires.
8. Your Rights
You may edit your editable profile fields at any time, request correction of academic details through support, and request deletion of your account from Settings.
9. Account Deletion
Deleting your account deactivates your profile and removes it from public view. Some transaction records may be retained where required for dispute resolution or legal compliance.
10. Future Compliance
As CUI Marketplace grows, this policy will be updated to reflect applicable data protection regulations. We encourage users to review this page periodically.
